EMERGENCY
------ THAT WASN' T
PRINCIPLES During life, most things
can be taken from us. There are
exceptions. Among the things that
cannot be taken but can be casually
tossed away as invaluable include the
principles of HONOR,
HONESTY, and INTEGRITY. When a child
steals a candy bar from a merchant or
when Dillinger robbed
a bank, they both gained the title of
" thief " We attempt to instill
these principles into our children and
grandchildren. With sadness we
question the poor examples of a few of
our national leadership, sports icons,
entertainment headliners, educators
and others holding public trust who throw
away the above personal
treasures. It now appears we should
exercise caution before we label certain
city leadership as positive
roll models. Shady Cove Police
Department case No. 02-125, filed on 6
February, is a complaint questioning
one or more of the following.
1. Misuse of public property.
2. Theft of public property.
3. Assignment of a public employee to
perform a private duty.
4. Falsifying a police/fire line.
Shocking is that the material involved
would cost less than five dollars but was
blatantly, perhaps arrogantly
displayed before our children and
grandchildren as example of abuse of
leadership power. On the evening of 7
February, in city council chambers, the
person in question offered to
provide autographed pieces of the
material in question. That elevated the
issue to undeniable
" in your face " arrogance.
Yet to be determined is whether the
property, a tape warning, " POLICE /
FIRE LINE - DO NOT CROSS",
was taken or if a public servant, to
win points, gave the tape and their
public time to string it.
Either would be violation of law and
oath of office as well as discharge of
the above principles.
The tape is not available for public
purchase, the location was not a fire,
crime, nor accident scene,
and only a fireman or policeman is
authorize d to determine such. This was
the scene of asphalt paving!
Now we face other dilemmas.
1. Will our city leadership cease
turning a blind eye and ask for
resignations when positions of power
and oaths of office are misused or
violated?
2. Will temporary Chief of Police
McKean join with Senior Officer Adams to;
(A). Investigate and file report with
an appropriatecourt of jurisdiction,
(B). Turn the incident over to an
independent police agency, or
( C). Continue Shady Cove's history of
having no interest in questions of law
violation if it becomes "
sensitive"?
3. Will our Administrator continue to
provide a turned head to open displays of
public trust violation?
4. Will the mayor repeat his statement
in a recent past council meeting to the
effect that if the citizens
don't like what they do in city hall,
"they know what they can do" or
will he again expound a very
recent but already infamous filthy
retort he gave to a prominent citizen who
telephoned to inquiry and complain?
5. Will the March Insider cast the
blame for the questioned violation upon
Collier or other branded
"troublemakers"
6. Will this administration's recently
published supporters take up collection
to return the value of the
people's property and where will they
collect to recover the principles and
trust that were so casually cast out?
Again, both a shoplifting child and
Dillinger carry identical titles. That is
defined as having PRINCIPLES!

POLICE / FIRE LINE TAPE FOR NEWLY LAID
ASPHALT}
For clarity of this misuse of the
tape, drive by the burned out hulk of the
old Guadalajara restaurant .The tape
that surrounds that cold fire scene
only says "CAUTION". Doesn't
figure. Seem unimportant?
Not so. For while the city turns its
eyes from this, city hall brings their
wrath down upon those they disagree
with by having the Police Department
and Public Works assigned to place their
adversaries under close
harassment and surveillance. This
misuse of public employees provides the
city with excuse that they are
undermanned to accomplish the
functions and responsibilities which
would benefit the general populace.
Are we experiencing shades of 1933
Europe by selective targeting?
