Now,
here is Vic's response to
Arthur, sent to UR
Independent Wed. Feb. 6,
2002
To the
Editor:
It
appears today
that Mr. Smith has
not yet located the
source of the mystery
notice. It wasn't
me, let us be
aware that I am, and have
always been, a computer
guy, with no use or need
for the stuff Mr. Smith
called "White
Out". I change data
in files and then reprint
that updated file. As I
now read the notice in
question for the very
first time in the
Independent, I see
that participation
in an election is
encouraged in that
notice. I see no
recommendation, only a
possible gained privilege
to vote, a suggested
"yes or no"
vote. By golly, is this
not the American way? Let
us improve voter
participation, let us
tally them
"yes" and
"no" votes. How
democratic of us, of
course election results
will always be a
"maybe". I hope
and pray and will
continue to work for more
citizen involvement in
elections and politics
throughout our great
land. I have and I
am still doing what I can
to change this sorry
decline in citizen
involvement. To study

Voting
to them is VERY
important!
This is the Democratic
process
our forefathers fought
for:
notice 5th
line up, (to
vote "yes
or no") and maybe
defeat their high priced
water proposal.
Most of these
folks also
signed the petition for
an affordable water
proposal.
Citizens
that are retired and
really do like living in
Shady Cove, GO
FIGURE!
Points
on content of letter to
Editor "stand
corrected", by
George:
It is very likely that
the parks people would
vote for a reasonably
priced water district,
where the fees could not
be raised as happened
with the sewer fees.
It
is also very
likely that Smith
believes his proposed
water district would be
voted against by park
people as before.
Probably because the new
proposed water district
is likely to be too
expensive for them, the
parks people.
I
believe this was why he
excluded the parks.
What
he appears to not be
telling is that the
City can force
incorporation of the
parks into the City ----
after they get the water
district established.
Then the City could force
fee
increases on
the already expensive
water.
After
the known history of
sewer fee raises, does
anyone doubt that the
City would do just that??
Contrast the above
disastrous proposal by
Smith, backed by the
City,
with
the effort to hold down
costs and keep the water
district separate from
the city as proposed by
Will Hardy's Upper Rogue
Water and Power
group. Hardy
wants water just as Smith
does, BUT, Hardy is
willing to try for a new
better system. He is
always trying to cut
all costs, trying
anything that would make
the new water
district affordable.
Why
not a
Hardy try? George
