Letter to
the Editor:
We have seen
a multitude of sad
examples in Shady Cove
and Central Point, that
when an issue fails such
as recall, initiatives,
etc. the opposition then
suggests that the
advocates should
personally pay the costs.
Citizens being admonished
for taking their civic
responsibilities
seriously is the sorry
fad of todays
society. If this is a
pattern for action, then
this administration which
freely spends our
taxpayers money in an
already known loser like
the redistricting fiasco
should also be forced to
personally pay for the
fees they incurred.
The above
attitude is expected of
dictatorships but not for
our representative form
of government.. I risked
my life in a world war to
protect not just my
rights, but yours as
well. I do not wish to
take away your rights,
but equally do not
surrender mine. If anyone
does not agree with the
right to recall or
initiative rights as
granted by the
Constitution, appeal to
your representatives for
an amendment or relocate
to a country that does
not allow opposition
views. May I suggest
sunny Iraq?
As to the
fallacies
issue, heres a
heads up, for as I write
more that one capable
attorney acting in
concert is examining what
you call frivolous
fallacies. With
several cases presently
filed in both Circuit and
Federal courts and the
staggering potential for
more, are you also
elevating yourself to
deny those people their
rights? May I also
suggest you examine the
inner structure of this
Castle rather
than the exterior paint
job? Perhaps you will
even discover what
is is.
